Definition of Dedicated Server Plans

When we speak of hosting servers, there are three main types - shared hosting servers, VPS (private virtual web hosting servers) and dedicated servers. Shared web servers accommodate lots of customers and therefore the resources per hosting account are limited, virtual private servers give you more server configuration independence, but also influence other VPSs on the hardware node if used rashly, and dedicated servers give you the chance to do everything you desire without interfering with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated servers?

Dedicated servers are typically much more expensive than shared hosting servers or private virtual hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The reply is rather simple. If your firm has a heavy resource-devouring website, or just has very exact server architecture requirements, the smartest choice is a dedicated servers. For someone who is inclined to invest in security and reliability, the higher price is of no concern. You get full server root access and can use 100% of the web hosting server's system resources without anyone else using these system resources and interfering with your web pages.

Hardware specifications

Most website hosting distributors, incl. us at , offer different hardware architectures you can select from in consonance with your needs. The configurations include different kinds of processors, a different number of cores, different RAM and server hard drive sizes and different monthly bandwidth usage quotas. You can select a web hosting CP, which is a useful interface if you would like to use the dedicated servers for web hosting purposes only and choose not to resort to an SSH console for all the modifications you will be making. We provide three sorts of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The hosting CP of your choice

If you are a self-assured Linux OS user (our web hosting servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated servers via an SSH connection exclusively. That, though, could be inconvenient, especially if you wish to give full server root privileges to somebody else who has less technical knowledge than yourself. That is why having hosting CP software pre-installed is a smart idea. The Hepsia hosting CP user interface that we provide does not include root access and is mostly appropriate for somebody who runs numerous web pages that devour lots of system resources, but wishes to manage the web pages, databases and e-mail aliases using a user-friendly web hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting Control Panels, on the other hand, give you complete server root access and include 3 access levels - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell web hosting packages rather than using the dedicated servers only for yourself, you should select one of these two.

Web server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your web hosting server, like an unresponsive Apache or a downtime, it is advisable to have some sort of monitoring platform activated. Here at the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated servers too. Backups are also a bonus option - the hosting vendor offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could select a kind of RAID that would permit you to keep the very same data on 2 server hard drives as a protective measure in the event of a hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted complete root access deletes something accidentally.
